Heritage Schools COVID Update - 2 CURRENT CASES 11-2-2020

To the Parents, Guardians, Stakeholders of Heritage Schools:

The Heritage District was informed by county public health today that a K-8 student at Homer has tested positive. The student was last in the building October 26. The high school has a current positive case reported last Friday, that student was last in building October 27, so the district currently has 2 positive student cases and no staff cases.

Parents of students are now being contacted by the school district in addition to public health.   The district is assisting the health department with supporting information, especially as cases have grown in the county, and public health is working as quickly as possible on contact tracing.  Anyone identified within the contact time and distance guidelines from tracing interviews, class lists, seating charts, and bus seating will receive instructions from county health on mitigation measures and will also receive a call from Heritage Schools with quarantine information.

The district performs daily cleaning and spraying with germ killing disinfectant throughout the schools at night.  The school will continue these comprehensive daily cleaning efforts, though the school buildings and in person learning have not been connected to cases within the district to this point according to all indicators.

With the weather turning colder and cases state-wide increasing, it is a good time to again remind everyone about the importance of the daily symptom check sheets. They need to be completed and brought to school every day and must be accurate. Please check temperatures every school day morning before boarding a bus or dropping off or walking to school.

Also, if anyone in your family or that you have been in contact with recently is getting tested, please wait for the test results if symptoms prompted the test.  You can inform the main office for your student(s) of the situation and absences are fully excused for any COVID-related reasons.
