Elementary/Junior High Announcements:

  1. The next JH Volleyball game will be played on Saturday, March 2, 2024, for the beginning of 8th Grade JH Regional play. The game will be held at Chrisman at 12:00 PM. The bus will leave from Homer at 10:30 AM and Broadlands at 10:45 AM.  Good Luck!
  2. The next JH Scholastic Bowl match will be played on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Ogden Elementary School at 4:00 PM. The bus will leave from Homer ONLY at 3:30 PM. Good luck!
  3. A big THANK YOU to our JH FCA students and leaders for their generosity in providing our staff with lunch yesterday. It was enjoyed by all and much appreciated.
  4. Attention all students and parents: Heritage PTC handed out informational packets sent home on Feb. 20th, with students giving details on a new Yoder fundraiser opportunity. All orders will be due before spring break on March 7 at 2:00 PM. Order pick-up will be on March 28 from 3 to 6:30 PM. Money should be collected at the time of sale with checks payable to Heritage PTC. Prizes will be handed out to the Top Seller Overall - $100.00, 2nd Top Seller Overall - $75.00, 3rd Top Seller Overall - $50.00, and 4th Top Seller Overall - $25.00. The Top Class Seller Overall will receive a party, and the Top Class Teacher will receive a $50.00 Amazon Gift Card.  Thank you for helping to support Heritage and our PTC organization.
  5. We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with the following dress-up themes: 3/4 - “Fox in Sox” – wear silliest or mismatched socks; 3/5- Character Day – dress as a favorite book character; 3/6- “Wacky Wednesday” –dress as wacky as you wish; 3/7 – “The Sleep Book” – wear pajamas.
  6. Our JH FCA group will meet every Wednesday at lunch time in the Study Hall room with Mr. Brad Wilson.

Reminders:

  • No vehicles are permitted in the circle drive where buses drop off in the morning or afternoon, and you must stay in your car when dropping off in the drop-off lane. 
  • If sending in snacks or treats for a class, please remember no home-baked goods can be shared.  All items must be pre-packaged and in-store box containers.
  • If your student will be gone for a doctor’s appointment, please have him/her bring a note from the doctor upon returning to school to show that they were there.  Otherwise, the absence will be marked unexcused by the school.
  • Please remember that there is NO SMOKING/VAPING on school grounds and that seat belts should be fastened properly around children as they are being picked up or dropped off on school property.
  • Please remember to discuss with your student as to whether or not he/she will be eating breakfast/lunch that is offered at the school this year.  Menus are available as needed.
  • If you need to pick up or drop anything off to a student or staff member in the building, please call and make arrangements with office staff before you do so.

  1. There will be a representative from Blackburn College here TODAY, 2/29 at 12:00 pm for anyone interested.
  2. A Winter Sports banquet will be on Sunday, March 3rd, in the HS cafeteria at 2 pm. Please bring a finger food or a dessert to share. Table service and water will be provided.
  3. Parkland will test future Parkland students on March 4th and any students taking dual credit next year. Some will be taking tests in the morning. Seniors will be testing in the afternoon.
  4. A University of Illinois Springfield representative will be here on March 5th at 11:45 am.
  5. Heritage Post Prom will host a Bowling Fundraiser at Old Orchard Lanes on 3/23/24 at 6 pm. The cost is $50 per person, including 2 bowling games, shoe rental, and pizza. To register, email postpromheritage@gmail.com. Payment can be turned in to the HS office by March 8. Spots are limited; each lane holds 6 people and 10 lanes are reserved.
  6. As announced in the first broadcast of the Journalism class, if you buy a yearbook before spring break, you’ll get to throw a water balloon at a staff member. Click here to order.
  7. Any senior interested in an electrical apprenticeship opportunity, please see Mrs. Knott.
  8. Any senior interested in the American Legion Auxiliary scholarship, please see Mrs. Knott.
  9. Applications are now being accepted for any senior interested in the Iron Workers apprenticeship. See Mrs. Knott for details.

Reminders:

  • The 2023 Yearbooks are in! If you didn’t buy one yet, there are a few extras. For $60, all the memories from 2023 can be yours! Write checks to Heritage High School. See Mrs. Campos.
  • Parents: Reminder! If your student is absent for 5 or more consecutive days for illness, they must have a doctor’s note to return to school or the absences are considered unexcused.
  • Lunch Reminder: Lunches at the HS are now 2.70 per lunch. HS lunches may be paid via cash or check at the school office. You may also pay for your student’s lunches through the TeacherEase app.
  • Parents: Just a reminder that if your student will not be in school for the day, please be sure you are calling the office to let us know. Your student will be marked as an unexcused absence for the day if we have not heard from you. Thank you.
