On Monday, September 14th, several Heritage freshmen and 8th-grade students were honored at the Voice/Craft Ceremony at Parkland College. The Voice/Craft program celebrates students' written works from local school districts. Students’ poetry and prose were read and critiqued by professors at Parkland College. A copy of the Voice/Craft 2026 edition book can be found at the Homer Community Library.
Thank you to the Voice/Craft program for giving our students a platform to share their ideas and congratulations to our Heritage students who have become published authors!

Today, Heritage paused to remember and honor the lives lost and the many heroes of September 11, 2001, on the 25th anniversary of the attacks.
Throughout the morning, our schools observed moments of silence marking the times the North Tower, South Tower, Pentagon, and Flight 93 were struck.
At Homer, our 7th and 8th Grade Band performed the Star-Spangled Banner during morning assembly. At Broadlands, Heritage High School trumpet students closed the school day with a moving performance of Taps in Echo.
We are grateful for the thoughtful and respectful ways our students and staff honored this important day in our nation’s history.
May we continue to remember the lives lost, honor those who served and sacrificed, and reflect on the courage, unity, and compassion shown in the days that followed.
